St. Cloud Area Veterans Memorials

Veteran’s Day is November 11th every year, but honoring those who have served is a commitment that you should make all year. Greater St. Cloud is home to several veteran memorials and monuments, honoring those who have served in many different conflicts throughout history. Check out these memorials below for more information on where they are located, and who they honor. 

Veteran’s Plaza

St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex | 5001 Veterans Drive, St. Cloud, MN 56303

The Minnesota Veteran’s Plaza is located in the courtyard at The MAC, and is dedicated to those who have served to protect the United States in many different conflicts. The plaza honors all branches of military, and has plaques honoring the Civil War, Spanish American War, World War I & II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and other US Military Involvement throughout history, as well as a special monument for prisoners of war. It is a beautiful, solemn way to pay respects to, learn about, and appreciate those who have served.

Lake George | Intersection of Division Street & 12th Avenue South

Located on the shores of Lake George in Downtown St. Cloud, the Vietnam War Memorial was dedicated in 2007 to the Vietnamese and American soldiers who died in the fight for freedom in Vietnam. It features the United States and Vietnam flags, floral arrangements, and other landscaping as well as a lasered image of soldiers that is lit up by evening. It is the perfect place for a peaceful reprieve after a stroll around Lake George, and a beautiful way to remember those who have served.

Wilson Park | 625 Riverside Dr NE, St Cloud, MN 56304

This memorial is located at Wilson Park, right on the banks of the Mississippi River. It was dedicated in 2006 to honor those who served on the Berlin Airlift from 1948 to 1949 as well as those who served on the USS Bon Homme Richard – which was the only airlift carrier that served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. The monuments are situated on a concrete plaza under the American Flag, which makes it a perfect, peaceful place for remembrance and reflection.

American Heritage National Bank | 525 Highway 10 South, St. Cloud MN 56302

The Falls of our Fallen Memorial is located adjacent to American Heritage National Bank on the East side of St. Cloud. It is a stoic, powerful memorial featuring a two and a half story waterfall, constructed with 220 tons of granite that circulates 1,000 gallons of water per minute. It is dedicated to military veterans as well as law enforcement officers and fir e fighters who have served and sacrificed for their communities and country. It was dedicated on July 4, 2000.

Freedom Flight POW/MIA Hot Air Balloon

Freedom Flight is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that flies hot air balloons to support the Prisoner of War / Missing in Action issues. The hot air balloons can often be found at area events as well as national hot air balloon rallies across the United States. Veterans Rock

Veterans Rock can be found at Wilson Park located along the banks of the Mississippi river in St. Cloud. The rock is a collaborative art piece that was designed and painted by veterans from each branch of the United States military. Veterans Rock stands to honor and recognize past, present and future members of the U.S. military.
