St. Patty’s day is the perfect excuse (not that you really need one) to get together with loved ones to celebrate friendship, have a good laugh, and drink a pint, or two, of green beer. Greater St. Cloud has some pretty epic ways to celebrate. We’ve got music, parades, and pub crawls, cheers!
Here’s a quick history lesson for you. Saint Patrick is a Patron Saint with an interesting legend of banishing snakes from Ireland (thank you!) and using the clover leaf to explain the Christian tradition of the Holy Trinity. St. Patrick’s day celebrations were brought to the United States when Irish people emigrated. Originally celebrated as a religious holiday, St. Patrick’s day has become a popular holiday outside of its religious roots and is celebrated by people across the United States. Some of the most common traditions of St. Patrick’s Day included parades, eating corned beef and cabbage, and wearing green!
Now, don your favorite green outfit, and get out there to celebrate all the fun St. Patty’s day events in Greater St. Cloud!
Although St. Patrick’s day is officially on March 17th, you can always start your celebrations early with a festive concert from Ring of Kerry! The concert features traditional Celtic music and dancing from the Eilis Academy of Irish Dance! The concert is March 9th at the Paramount Center for the Arts in Downtown St. Cloud.
Get together with friends for an unforgettable Irish dinner at Olde Brick House! Start with a round of local Irish inspired beer from Finnegans Brew Co. in Minneapolis. Or, if you’re looking for something a little stronger, look no further than the on-top Jameson. Now, let’s talk food. Share the Reuben Wonton Rolls appetizer, stuffed with corned beef, sauerkraut and cream cheese (trust us, it’s delicious). Keep the party rolling with a main dish from the Traditional Fare menu, featuring Guinness Fish and Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, Corned Beef and Cabbage and more!
Add a little fitness into your St. Patty’s day weekend at the Pot O’ Gold 5k! They also have a 2 mile race and even a 1k for the kids. See you there!
Walk your way through St. Joseph at the annual St. Patty’s Weekend Pub Crawl! Grab a drink at Bad Habit, The LaPlayette, The Middy, St. Joe Legion, and Sal’s! The event will also feature food trucks and prizes. Have fun, and don’t forget to wear your green!
Looking for some fun for the whole family? Saint Patrick’s Marty Parade in Marty, Minnesota is the perfect celebration! The parade starts at 1pm on March 16th. Afterwards there will be live music at Pearl Lake Lodge by Pirates Guitars and Beachfront Bars!
